Case Study: Northern Power Women
Northern Power Women is a community-driven initiative aimed at accelerating gender equality and empowering women across the North of England.
Project Overview
Northern Power Women is a community-driven initiative aimed at accelerating gender equality and empowering women across the North of England. The design project was commissioned to create a cohesive digital experience that reflects the organization’s mission, values, and vibrant community.
Goals
Develop a visually engaging, user-friendly interface for the Northern Power Women website and digital assets.
Showcase the organization’s impact, events, resources, and network.
Ensure accessibility and inclusivity across all touchpoints.
Strengthen brand identity while maintaining flexibility for future growth.
Design Process
1. Discovery & Research
We began with stakeholder interviews to understand the needs of the Northern Power Women audience. Key insights included the importance of clear navigation, representation of diverse voices, and the need for easily accessible event information.
2. Ideation & Wireframing
Using Figma, we developed wireframes for core pages: Home, Events, Resources, Community, and About. Early sketches focused on intuitive layouts, bold calls-to-action, and modular content blocks to accommodate frequent updates.
3. Visual Design
The final design leverages Northern Power Women’s brand colors—energetic purples, warm yellows, and empowering blues—paired with inclusive imagery and dynamic typography. We created reusable components and design tokens in Figma to ensure consistency and speed up future iterations.
4. Implementation & Handoff
All design assets, components, and documentation were organized in Figma for seamless handoff to developers. Design tokens and accessibility guidelines were embedded to support ongoing maintenance.
